DURHAM Brothers Orchestra

In 1988 Eddie invited me to join him for dinner after a nearby San Francisco gig in order to discuss obtaining royalties from his tunes and arrangements. As a fan and publicist for Phil Schaap’s West End Café engagements in the 1970's I enjoyed many evenings hanging out with those musicians. Eddie, a fascination with his speaker converted to a guitar amplifier, frequently illuminated me with his jazz history.   

As an avid follower of the Harlem Blues and Jazz Band I had had the opportunity to successfully collect royalties from Al Casey-rhythm guitar original tunes recorded with Fats Waller and on European recordings that continue to initiate checks for his son.

When I reopened Shutters Cafe with members of the HARLEM BLUES AND JAZZ BAND then moved to Chez Suzette to institute their Jazz policy I featured Fats Waller's last living Rhythm member Al Casey.
